New Updates, New Schedules... MOVING FORWARD!

Hey Koruscate!

Spending this past weekend in Ashland was a BLAST! We will post pictures from the trip here on the blog soon... Since summer is upon us, many will be vacationing, etc. We will have two practices in July: Wednesday the 8th & 15th @ 5:30pm, then the youth band will sing @ youth on Thursday, July 16th. There will be a rehearsal for that service at 6:30pm. Mark your calendars for these practices, as we will not always be able to text you and remind you.

Let's get back on "Heart of the Artist". Since a lot of you are out of school for the summer, you may have an extra 10 minutes a day that you can spend reading this book. It's full of wisdom and application, and you will benefit from it. We will discuss chapter 2 on the 8th and chapter 3 on the 15th.

As you can see, we have posted chord charts for many new songs. Please print them and bring them to practice. (This goes for vocalists too, since you need the lyrics.) We will practice from the following list of new songs on the 8th and 15th (we won't do all, but have all printed and rehearsed):

Slow Fade
Indescribable
Ocean Floor
Whisper His Name
God, He Reigns
All Around

On our trip this weekend, we mentioned writing some new songs. Make this a goal for yourself on downtime. Bring lyrics or chords to practice, and we will definitely go over them and collaborate. Writing your own material can be challenging, but is also very rewarding!

Lastly, we also mentioned on our trip this weekend that it would be fun to purchase a few street performance instruments. Rajiv found a perfect type of bongo called a "djembe" at Cripple Creek Music Co. in Ashland. If we can all give to the koruscate fund (mark "youth band" or "koruscate" on your offering envelope), we can raise money for these types of instruments and many more in very little time. Last week, Redding started doing a market on Thursday nights at 5pm. It would be fun to do some street performances from 5-6 before we head to Thursday rehearsals for youth. Give us your input!

Hope you all have an awesome 4th-of-July weekend. Call or e-mail us if you have any questions or comments about summer band plans. Love you all!
